The visual impressions of the hero are replaced by auditory ones. He recalls that at this time of spring the shepherd's horn is still not heard ("the shepherd's trumpet in the morning has not yet sang loudly"). But further, signs of early spring appear before the hero's gaze: a curl of a thin fern, a sprouting grass. A new tide of enthusiastic emotions is born in his soul. Already with the words “there was a thin fern”, a new musical wave begins to rise to the words “that was”.

Everything surrounding the hero, as if in passing, passes through his consciousness. Neither the curls of the fern, nor the flowing streams, nor the barely rising grass, nor the shadows of the blossoming birches, firmly stop his attention. He is completely absorbed in his happiness. The beloved girl, in response to his confession, “lowered her eyes,” that is, reciprocated his love. He cries, looking at her "cute face". Alexey Konstantinovich wrote these lyrical lines in May 1871. Its content shows that the author was sad, but happy. From the very beginning of reading, a romantic atmosphere was created in my imagination: a pleasant aroma of freshness, young greens - everything is fine, everything comes to life. On winter days, these lines come in handy as never before, this is exactly what is so lacking.
